Setting quantity rules product by product is tedious when you have a large catalogue. Shopify collection-level rules let you apply a single minimum, maximum, or increment to every product in a collection simultaneously.
Why Collection-Level Rules Save Time
A wholesale catalogue has 200 products — all requiring a minimum order of 6. Creating 200 individual rules is impractical. Targeting a ‘wholesale’ collection (or a product tag shared by all wholesale items) applies the rule to every product in one step.
Setting Collection Rules with Fold
Fold supports collection and product tag targeting in addition to individual product rules.
Targeting by Shopify collection
Open Fold, create a rule, and select your collection as the target. Every product in that collection is now subject to the rule. New products added to the collection automatically inherit the rule.
Targeting by product tag
Tags are often more flexible than collections for this purpose. Tag products with ‘wholesale’ or ‘case-pack’ and create a Fold rule targeting that tag. A product can have multiple tags, so it can fall under multiple rule sets.

Both rules evaluate at checkout. A wholesale customer must buy at least 6 units, in multiples of 6.

Managing Rules as Collections Change
When you add a product to a targeted collection, it inherits the rule automatically. When you remove it, the rule no longer applies. There is no manual per-product maintenance.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I have different rules for different collections simultaneously?
Yes. Fold evaluates all active rules at checkout. A product in both the ‘wholesale’ collection and the ‘fragile’ collection can be subject to rules from both simultaneously — as long as the rules do not conflict.
What if a product is in multiple collections with different rules?
All matching rules apply. If one rule sets a minimum of 6 and another sets a maximum of 12, both are enforced — the customer must buy between 6 and 12 units.
